Captain Riker braves a mysterious anomaly
The U.S.S. Titan, under command of Captain William Riker, enters a glorious stellar cloud that blanketed an uncharted solar system the week before. The mysterious phenomenon was detected traveling at warp by a Federation long-range sensor array prior to its "possession" of this region of space.
Several distress calls from mining vessels made it out of the system before being overwhelmed by the immense background radiation of the phenomenon. It is unclear if there are any survivors. The Titan is under orders to rescue any stranded vessels, while also taking this opportunity to study the solar system's "ecology". The state-of-the-art starship was built for just such a challenge.
The primary mission, of course, is to ascertain the nature of the cloud. Few natural objects have every been detected traveling at warp. Is this some sort of technology from an advanced race? What were their intentions here? Should the Titan proceed with caution?
"Shields up!" Riker ordered, answering his own thoughts, "We're going in!"
