RISE OF THE PHOENIX (short sketch)

Updated: Oct 23, 2019

By Nathan Warner

A stranded Galaxy class saucer makes a desperate gamble for freedom

Lt. Edward Rainier watches on as a Galaxy class saucer attempts to rise from the ground where it had been scuttled during the action of the Dominion War.

Crashed on a backwater planet, the surviving crew has spent the last 6 months patching the systems back together and re-configuring the impulse engines to lower output yields. The hope was to gain enough altitude with a low burst to climb into the atmosphere where they'd kick them on full bore and blast back into orbit, aiming to join the stars once again.

It is a risky business, but with supplies running thin, Commander Barnes is eager to get his crew home, even if it means risking losing the ship altogether - and the lives of everyone who volunteered to try it. Lt. Rainier was ordered to stay behind with the wounded and civilians just in case the gambit didn't work.
