The U.S.S. Equinox found itself among unknown stars, cast far away from friendly shores by a merciless energy tide - a storm among the stars. They had been tossed and battered clear across the galaxy - further than any other Federation ship had ever traveled - at least any that were known about and had lived to return and share the tale.
Captain Ransom mused on their predicament in his quarters, but his thoughts vaporized in the sheer stellar beauty outside his window. A mesmerizing stellar phenomenon blazed like a fiery cross in the rich colors of nebula gases.
The sight caught his breath and pierced his soul. A symbol of grace, but would he find any out here all alone? Would they ever see home again? His heart bled for his wife, and he didn't even feel the tear falling down his face. Would he ever embrace her again?
In that moment, he knew he would do anything, and everything to get back to her. He didn't care the cost.
